HIRER

Why should I use StaffSearcher to recruit my team?

StaffSearcher is great at finding Candidates

The StaffSearcher community boasts a network of referrers, each with many contacts in the Australian business community. When they see opportunities that suit the people they know, they act as your agent, notifying those people and encouraging them to investigate and apply if suitable. Using the "6 Degrees of Separation" principle, your ad could be seen by thousands of appropriate candidates.

StaffSearcher helps you screen candidates

Everyone who applies for your role must have someone willing to recommend them and vouch for their fit for the position – the referrer.

As a result, you get a list of highly matched candidates to consider for selection. You can compare them against your job using our ‘head-to-head' candidate comparison tool. You're always 100% in control and can choose the candidate(s) you would like to shortlist, interview and ultimately employ.

StaffSearcher is cost effective

We've kept the StaffSearcher job posting fee to only $25 or under 15% of the current cost of most media sites. This fee covers administration and ensures your role is visible to all visitors to the site and notified to all referrers who have contacts that match the brief.

The reward for placement is set by you and you only pay this finder's fee when and if you find and hire a new employee through us.

There really is nothing to lose in using StaffSearcher

How do I use StaffSearcher to fill a vacancy?

You need to be a registered user of StaffSearcher to post vacancies on the site. This is a free, simple and quick process.

Simply go to the Hirer section via the link on the home page to start the process of outlining your job vacancy.

You'll be asked to register as a user, which requires you to set up an account and password and provide a little detail to get started.

You'll notice there are three main sections once you're logged in;

'Hire People' – Where Hirers like you manage the process of advertising roles and receiving and managing applications.

'Refer People' – Where referrers manage their contact details and process any referrals to jobs and subsequent applications that arise.

'Find Jobs'. – Where you can search for and apply for roles (provided you have someone willing to refer you.)

To list a vacancy, simply click on "Add a Job" and you'll be shown the details that you'll need to supply in your listing. Give special thought to the reward you choose to offer as it's the key aspect that makes our service different and your most potent tool to get people out there promoting your role for you.

When you've completed creating your job listing, you'll need to pay the $25 posting fee. As soon as that has been processed, your job will go live immediately. At that point, the key candidate criteria you've specified in your job listing will be instantaneously sent to the referrers in our network with contacts that have matching attributes to those you need.

Referrers will review the job listing and ask their relevant contacts if they are interested in the role. In effect, they act as your recruitment head-hunter within their network.

Each job you post is also made available to all the potential candidates who search the job board on the site.

A candidate with matching skills and an interest in your job can then apply through a referrer and you will be to see their application along with all others in your workstation on StaffSearcher.

What are the fees associated with using StaffSearcher?

There's an administration fee, which is currently $25 per job listing. This will ensure your role is published to the StaffSearcher website and sent to everyone in our referrer network who has contacts that are a potential fit with what you need for your vacant job.

The main finder's fee (reward) is payable only if you find and successfully hire a candidate on StaffSearcher. You select that fee yourself and it's up to you to balance your need to keep your recruitment costs down against the reality that the higher the reward you offer, the more motivated our referrers will be to try and find someone for you. A rule of thumb is 5% of the intended salary (substantially lower than the average recruiter's fee of (15%). We suggest you offer more if you know the person you seek is rare or if you need a faster solution.

Referrers will submit their potential candidates to you and should you choose to employ their recommended candidate, you pay us the fee and we send it to them (less our commission which is how we stay in business).

This makes hiring via StaffSearcher significantly cheaper than using a traditional recruiter. You nominate the fee you're happy to pay. You're in control.

What if I don't specify a reward for my opportunity?

All StaffSearcher roles require a reward to be listed and published but the amount you set is up to you.

The reward is a great way for you to stand out from other jobs posted on StaffSearcher. The bigger the reward, the greater the interest you'll encourage from the people (referrers) you want to get working for you to find your candidates.

Why would a StaffSearcher candidate be any better than one I get from the newspaper or any other source?

All StaffSearcher candidates come personally recommended by referrers who know them and their skills well enough to confidently recommend them to your job.

Often our referrers have worked with the people they put-forward. This first-hand insight in to how candidates work in "real world" situations allows our referrers to use the details you provided in your job ad to help them find best-fit people for your position.

Referrers have a rating that reflects the quality of their past referrals (you'll get a chance to rate all referrers who have contacts that you shortlist for your roles.)

You'll quickly learn that this ‘Referrer Rating' is a great way for you to sort candidates and save time. As a general rule, the better the Referrer Rating, the better a Referrer is at matching their recommended contacts to the needs of your role.

How will I be advised of the referrals?

As soon as you receive a referred candidate application, you will be advised by email and Your Workstation (where you manage your job vacancies) will contain all the details for you to sort and manage. All referrals will come through in real-time until the close-date specified in your listing.

Does StaffSearcher manage the hiring process?

StaffSearcher gives you a list of best-fit candidates and you take it from there. How many candidates and how often you choose to interview prior to making a decision is entirely your choice.

We know that you know your business better than anyone and leave the responsibility for selecting the right people up to you.

The system does track the process based on your actions and on conclusion we require you return to your Workstation and notify us if you have filled the role with a candidate sourced via StaffSearcher.

How does StaffSearcher make money?

StaffSearcher charges a listing fee of $25 for all job advertisements and takes a 20% commission on rewards paid to our referrers whose candidates are successfully placed via the system.

How good are the referrers?

StaffSearcher referrers are industry professionals who have built valuable networks of talented friends and colleagues. They know their people personally, and often professionally, which places them in a good position to judge a candidate's suitability for a given position.

But because StaffSearcher encourages and rewards those with the highest calibre networks, our referrers are only as good as their contacts. If the people they know aren't up to scratch then the referrer doesn't benefit. So the system encourages and rewards those referrers who put-forward the strongest candidates, while weeding out those who might propose sub-standard candidates. So, in short, the cream rises, and what results is a community of well-connected, trusted and tried referrers.

You will also have the opportunity to rate the quality of the referral from a referrer and you'll be able to see a referrers past ratings (from other hirers as well). This means you can see if a referrer has a good track record of putting forward candidates that closely match the requirements for a job. You'll quickly learn that this ‘Referrer Rating' is a great way for you to screen candidates and save time. The better the Referrer Rating, the more likely the candidate you've been referred will match your needs.

REFERRER

Why should I become a referrer?

Isn't it time your contacts really paid off?

StaffSearcher understands that as someone who's spent some time in business, you've met people along the way who've stood-out as being skilled in their area.

Whether they're colleagues or friends, your first-hand knowledge of their skills and personality is highly valuable to people looking to hire.

Being a StaffSearcher referrer provides a way for you to realise that value in cash, and get your friends and colleagues great jobs.

Here's the deal: if someone you recommend for a StaffSearcher-posted job gets it, then you get paid when they start the job. So the stronger your network of people, the more you can earn. Your friend or colleague will be happy, because you brought a great job to them and you're happy because you earning significant money for doing them a favour!

How do I get started, as a referrer?

It's easy. You'll need to register on the site first which is simple, quick and free.

You'll notice there are three main sections once you're logged in;

'Refer People' – Where you'll manage your contacts, their details and also process any referrals to jobs and subsequent applications that arise.

'Hire People' – Where Hirers like you manage the process of advertising roles and receiving and managing applications.

'Find Jobs'. – Where you can search for and apply for roles (provided you have someone willing to refer you.)

The first step is to enter your contact's and their details. This can be done manually or you can download them automatically from places like Gmail, Hotmail or even Outlook.

If you want to make the most of being a referrer on StaffSearcher we strongly advise you to enter as much info as you know about your friends and colleagues skills and career aspirations. The more information you provide the better the system will be able to match your contacts to the jobs on the site.

StaffSearcher will then automatically show you the jobs that match your contacts. (Don't forget, the more detailed and accurate the info you put in, the better the results you'll get).

We can even notify you of new opportunities that might match one or more of your contacts via email.

When you've received some matching jobs from the system, you can send them to your contacts and if they are interested and apply, you get to check the application before it goes to the hirer (it's your reputation on the line so it needs to be good.)

When the application meets your standard, you send it on to the Hirer who goes through the process of choosing applicants for interviewing and going through the hiring process.

In the ‘Your Actions' section of StaffSearcher you can keep track of all the candidates you are processing and the system lets you know what you need to do at any stage.

If a business hires a person you recommended you will get the reward that was specified in the job listing (less the StaffSearcher commission).

What's in it for me if I invite my friends to join the StaffSearcher referrer network?

If you invite a friend to join StaffSearcher, and they choose to join the site through your invitation, you'll be paid 5% of all rewards they earn in future. The more new members/referrers you invite, the greater your potential earnings. But get in fast to make sure you invite your mates to join StaffSearcher before someone else does.

Are there any costs associated with being a referrer on StaffSearcher?

There are no costs to become a referrer however StaffSearcher retains a 20% commission on all rewards you earn through the system.

This of course only happens when you earn money through the system.

Also, if you joined the StaffSearcher system via a system generated email invitation from an existing member, you will share 5% of the remainder with them (they are your "sponsor.")

What happens when I send a job to someone in my network?

At this point, your contact has the option to either decline or apply for the job. If they decline, you'll be notified via email. If they apply, you'll receive a link to their application. It's a good idea for you to proof-read the documents before sending them to the Hirer (via StaffSearcher), as the standard of the application (grammar, relevant skills, etc) will impact on your perceived quality as a referrer and will ultimately impact on the likelihood of success for both you and the candidate.

Does StaffSearcher manage the hiring process?

When an opportunity has been posted and referrers start to send in their candidates, StaffSearcher provides the Hirer with a list of candidates to consider.

The Hirer makes their shortlist and moves through the candidate screening process. The Hirer controls the steps and timing of this process.

What we do is to help you track your candidate's progress on ‘Your Workstation'. If you hear directly from your candidate that they've been successful, then you can advise the system and allow StaffSearcher to pay your reward.

How does StaffSearcher make money?

StaffSearcher charges $25 to list a job and takes a 20% commission of any rewards paid to referrers from hirers for successful candidates they referred via the system.

CANDIDATE

Can I apply for an opportunity directly?

You can apply for any job you find on StaffSearcher but you must have someone willing to refer you and vouch for your credentials.

If you see a job you like, you can find a referrer you know on StaffSearcher to put you forward, or invite someone from outside StaffSearcher to join and refer you.

Our hirers value the fact that you've been recommended by someone who knows you and your skills and experience. Ultimately this is to your benefit, because research strongly suggests that hirers take recommended job applications much more seriously than direct applications from candidates themselves.

What sort of jobs are listed on StaffSearcher?

StaffSearcher lists quality jobs from various sectors. All of our customers are what are defined as Small to Medium business, generally with less than 400 employees.

All the roles on StaffSearcher are placed by the hiring business so there are no more middlemen to deal with.

For referrers this means that their contacts do not get vetted by a third party before proceeding, they go straight to the hirer for review.

We know that candidates find it frustrating to have to go through recruitment agencies before you can meet with the hiring business. If you get an interview via StaffSearcher, it will be with the business that could hire you.

Recruiters will not be able to place jobs on StaffSearcher.

How do I apply for a role?

If a referrer has sent you the details of a job, then simply follow the links to check it out. If it seems like your kind of thing, take a few minutes to register as a member on StaffSearcher and from there you'll be guided through the simple process of applying.

If you come upon a job yourself, then you'll need to register with StaffSearcher and either contact an existing StaffSearcher member to refer you, or contact someone who knows your skills and experience well and ask them to become a StaffSearcher member and refer you. It shouldn't be too hard to convince them, after all if you get the job, they get the reward!
